Tandem Bikes
Tandem bikes come in so many styles, there is bound to be one to fit anyone`s wishes. There is the two person style, but it hardly recognizable as the same tandem bicycle of even fifteen years ago. The styles have gotten so modern and versatile. There are three person tandem bicycles that accommodate Mom, Dad, and a child, so that the whole family can bike together.
Folding tandem bicycles are a good idea, if one needs to save some storage space. It also helps if the bicycle is going to be taken along on a trip in a vehicle. Once the tandem bicycle is folded, it is a little smaller than a regular bicycle.
The usual safety equipment is recommended for tandem bikes. Helmets, proper attire, etc. Installing front and rear night bike lights will help during evening or night time rides.
There is a very interesting tandem bicycle called the side by side tandem bicycle. It has four wheels and two very comfortable looking seats. You still pedal it, but you can get it fitted with an electric motor. You can also have rumble seats installed in the back for children. There are also accessories such as sunroofs and windshields.
Tandem means how the people are seated, not how many people are on the bike. It means that the people are seated one behind the other. So actually, the side by side tandem bicycle is not really a tandem bicycle if one goes by the definition. A bicycle where two people sit side by side is also called a sociable tandem bicycle.
